High flyers at H.O.G. Big Five!
- Chapter Social Event
H.O.G. Big Five Chapter was asked to officially open the popular annual Lowveld Air Show and open the festivities on 12 May 2018.
At 10am, 54 motorcycles were given permission by Air Traffic Control to enter the runway. With precision in parade formation, the pack consisting of Harley® owners from various motorcycle fraternities led by the Big Five Chapter, roared down the runway, and precisely aligned the motorcycles facing the crowd. Engines were silenced as we waited for the parachutists to land in front of us.
Timing was of the essence, calculated to the second when parachutists started landing with a massive South African flag; the V-twins roared into life with a cacophony of magic thundering sound.
In a uniform manner we proceeded down the runway, did a skilled U-turn, while the Skydiving plane flew overhead in perfect timing resulting in the beautiful photograph taken. After a final U-turn and runway crossing for spectators to have a final glimpse of the Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, riders egressed the airfield to park the bikes neatly in front of the Harley-Davidson dealership Big Five exhibitor stand.
We were complimented on our opening sequence and we were proud to represent the H-D® brand to the big crowd.
It was an exciting, fun filled and sky-rocking day for the whole Chapter!
